Contribute to the BioBank

The Oxford Biobank is a crucial resource for clinical trials - and you can help make it even better

Having access to high quality collections of tissue and other samples (biosamples), alongside other information about the population, is a critical resource for researchers. These resources allow researchers to investigate molecular and genetic changes that occur during disease progression. The samples can also be used to assess the effectiveness of new drugs and therapies in a specific patient population. These collections, known as Biobanks, and volunteer populations, known as Cohorts, are an important resource in translational research.  A more detailed explaination of biosamples can be found here.

The Tissue Banking and Cohorts theme supports the collection of tissue samples from those with specific conditions and from healthy people.  It is important to collect both types of samples to better investigate the changes that occur in the body due to disease allowing researchers to develop treatments that will have a beneficial impact on patient care.
